A major rebrand
8minute Solar, a large-scale solar developer in California, was already engaged with Studio Rover as their agency of record, but the company was lining up for a major shift in their brand, their technology, and their position in an increasingly tech-enabled energy ecosystem. Studio Rover was asked to develop a new logo, visual identity system, and messaging platform – and to design, build, write and launch a new website to help them take on more dynamic aspects of the marketplace as Avantus.
Studio Rover crafted a high-end visual identity, website, collateral system, launch campaign and sales/pitch materials that allowed Avantus to turn heads and compete right out of the gate in a saturated competitive landscape. Their new brand instantly elevated and separated them from the upstarts and unproven newcomers in the rapidly expanding solar sector.
The results
Three years after the launch of the Avantus brand and website, Studio Rover continues as the agency of record across brand marketing and ongoing website and creative development. In March 2024, KKR announced that it had agreed to acquire a majority interest in Avantus. Together with EIG, they have invested upwards of $1 billion through equity and debt commitments to support Avantus’ growth, including a $522M injection in July 2024 to support facility and project development. Studio Rover has continued as the stewards of the brand through the ownership change, new CEO, accelerated growth of headcount, and a new HQ opening in downtown San Diego, CA.
Rover works extensively with the Avantus team on event graphics, campaign themes, and brand extensions. No visual identity system is ever fixed and locked. There’s always room to explore new territory and to expand the way the brand expresses itself - all while staying true to the core visual theme.
